Tire Installation in Indianapolis, IN

A new-tire installation at Indianapolis Tire Shop in Indianapolis means the old tires come off, the new ones are mounted and balanced, the valve stems get replaced or a TPMS service kit goes in, the lugs are torqued to your vehicle's spec, and the worn tires are disposed of. Call with your tire size to confirm availability.

The old tires come off first, and what you want to see on the work order is everything that happens after that: mounting, balancing, valve stems or a TPMS kit, lug torque, and disposal. A quote that lists only the tires has left out most of the job.

If you already own the tires and only need them put on the wheels, that is a different visit, covered on the tire mounting and balancing page. This page is for buying a set and having it fitted in one stop.

What should the quote include besides the tires themselves?

Ask for the total with labor and extras itemized. The rubber is the big number, but the smaller lines are where quotes drift apart from one shop to the next.

  • Mounting and balancing for each wheel
  • New valve stems, or a TPMS service kit if your car has pressure sensors in the wheels
  • Disposal of the old tires
  • Whether the total is the final amount you pay at the counter

Why does lug torque get its own line?

Lug nuts run through an impact gun alone can end up uneven, and uneven clamping is a common reason brake rotors develop a pulse later. Ask that the final tightening be done with a torque wrench set to the number in your owner's manual.

It also costs nothing to ask for a look at the old tires before they go in the pile. Uneven wear on the inside edge or in the center tells you something about alignment or inflation that the next set will inherit.

Where is the shop, and when can I come in?

Indianapolis Tire Shop is at 3351 W Morris St in Indianapolis, and it serves 20 communities around Indianapolis. The shop runs Mon–Fri 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Sat 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, closed Sun.

Call ahead with the tire size printed on your current sidewall so availability can be confirmed before you make the trip.

Do I need all new tires at once?

Not always, but at least a matched pair on one axle is the usual minimum. Mixing very different tread depths changes how the car handles in the wet, so ask what makes sense for your vehicle.

Do new tires always need new valve stems?

Cars with ordinary rubber stems usually get fresh ones with every set. Cars with TPMS sensors in the wheels typically get a service kit instead, so ask which one applies to yours.

What happens to my old tires?

Disposal of the old set is part of a new-tire installation. Confirm it is listed on the quote so it does not show up as a surprise fee.
