Tire Repair in Indianapolis, IN

Need tire repair in Indianapolis? Indianapolis Tire Shop handles tire repair across Indianapolis, IN and the towns around it — measured first, quoted out the door, and walk-ins taken.

Tire Repair done right

A puncture in the tread is a repairable tire. We show you where it is before we quote a replacement. We measure before we quote, put the whole number in one figure rather than adding fees at the counter, and torque every wheel to the vehicle's own spec on the way out.

  • Out-the-door pricing — tires, mounting, balancing, stems, disposal and tax in one number.
  • Measured, not eyeballed — tread depth on all four corners, and brakes while the wheels are off.
  • Repaired where it can be repaired — a puncture in the tread crown is a patch-plug, not a new tire.
  • Build dates read out loud — the DOT code tells you the week and year, and you hear it before it is mounted.

What makes a tire repairable, and what does not

The repairable area is the tread crown, the part that touches the road. A puncture there, up to a quarter inch across, takes a combination patch-plug installed from inside the dismounted tire: the patch seals the inner liner, the plug fills the hole. Damage in the shoulder or the sidewall is not repairable at any price, because that rubber flexes on every rotation and no patch holds it. We also will not repair over a previous repair. At Indianapolis Tire Shop you are told which of those you have before anything comes off the car.

Why we dismount the tire instead of plugging it in place

A string plug pushed in from the outside without taking the tire off takes five minutes and lets nobody look at the inside. That matters, because a tire driven flat can be damaged internally where the sidewall folded on itself, and from the outside it still looks fine. We break the tire down, inspect the liner, and repair from the inside. If the liner shows the tire was run flat, we tell you, and we do not put it back on the car.

Tire Repair questions

How much does a tire repair cost in Indianapolis?

A proper patch-plug is one of the cheapest jobs in the shop, far less than a replacement tire, which is exactly why we lead with it rather than with a new set. Call (463) 282-2987 for today's price. If the puncture turns out to be in the sidewall, we will tell you on the phone what a replacement runs, so nothing at the counter is a surprise.

Can you repair a run-flat tire?

Sometimes. Run-flats have reinforced sidewalls that let you keep driving with no air, so how far you drove decides it. Run more than a short distance at low pressure and the sidewall structure is compromised even though it looks normal. We check the inner liner for the scuffing that shows it, and we say no when that is what we find.

Do I need to replace the other tire on the same axle?

Usually not, for a repair. A patched tire keeps its original tread depth, so it still matches its partner. Replacing in pairs matters when you are putting new rubber next to worn rubber, not when you have sealed a puncture in a tire that still has most of its life left.
